On Saturday morning, October 1st, 2011, the Bay Head Home and School Association and the town of Bay Head, will host what may be this fall's most anticipated running event! The Shark Run 5k is comprised of a flat, fast course through the beautiful oceanfront town of scenic, Bay Head. This exceptionally fun event will feature not only hundreds of experienced and novice runners, but also nearly 100 children. We will also hold separate kids fun races following the 5k.

Entry fee is $20 until Sept. 10th, $25 late registration. Entry fee includes t-shirt and giveaways (while supplies last). Early registration will receive exclusive giveaways.

Come for the run and stay for the fun! Again this year the Bay Head School Foundation is holding the annual Duck Derby immediately following the 5k and kids races. We will be racing the ducks in nearby Scow Ditch adjacent to Centennial Park. Ducks are $10 and can be purchased at either Muellers Bakery or Central Market on select weekends up to race day (look for our stand) or also on Sat. Oct 1st. Prizes will be awarded for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place and include a kayak, custom made mahogany beach wagon, and Beach House gift card. During the races enjoy a “Down the Shore” BBQ and cook-off, face painting, music, wellness tent, and other family fun.

Take the Garden State Parkway to exit 98. Travel south on Rt. 34, continuing south onto Rt. 35 into the town of Bay Head. Turn right onto Bridge Ave. The Bay Head Firehouse is one block in on the left. On street parking is available.
